Winter may have you shivering, but that doesn't mean your makeup can't be hot! These tips are easy to adapt to anyone's style, and there is something for every skin tone. Whether you hibernate by the fireplace or hit a million soirees, this season's looks will keep you on trend while you get drunk enough to stand your family.

ORANGE LIPS

There is a cute coral or slammin salmon for nearly every skin tone

This shot shows you can have a bold eye AND shocking orange lips. If you're going big, go big. Supersized hair and contoured cheeks set this look alight. I like this purple smokey eye because its confident yet complementary.

Agyness Deyn shows the balance between a bold accessory and vermillion lips.

Don't overwhelm your audience. Keep the eyes simple if your wearing a hat and rocking a bright lip hue.You don't want to look like your in costume.

If you're not quite ready to take the plunge into full on citrus, dip your toe with an orangey red, like the one Rita Ora is slaying here.

Or, for all the scaredy-cats: a lip stain+gloss combo like the one seen here.

WARM SMOKEY EYES

Plum, copper, and even red all make for a dynamic, unique smokey eye.

Plum is definitely the most accessible. It complements most skin tones, and has the added benefit of making the whites of the eyes appear brighter white. Brown and green eyed girls also look especially alluring in aubergines.

Here Elle Fanning takes it to the next level with a warm copper shadow. Note the lack of eye liner here, which keeps this look just on this side of overdone for daytime.

Rhianna shows you can have it both ways, with a bold red liner on the lower lid, and intense lashes. Although intense as a whole, the top eyelid sports a mere wash of color.

This look is closest to the inspiration for this trend:

The makeup of the 1920s.

Photos that we've grown familiar with as source images for flapper looks were often achieved with red, purple, and black alike. Check out the attitude on 20s it girl Clara Bow below:

SATURATED SMOKEY EYE AKA PANDA EYE

That's right folks, the panda eye is back. What do Panda's have to do with eyeshadow? Honestly, nothing. But this look does mimic the natural markings around panda eyes.

This look needs only one example: King Beyonce. Nuff Said.

The key to not looking like a mall goth is to take your time, check for skips

(spots with no shadow), and DO NOT USE A CHUBBY PENCIL. This is a concerted effort of powder shadow (easily controlled with H20), liquid liner (filled in as much or as little of the lid as you'd like), and q tips. Line up the outside edge of your upper eyelid with your eyebrow and use a makeup remover saturated q tip to ensure perfection.

GLOSSY EYES

Glossy eyes have been a runway staple for years, not to mention its an easy look to achieve. It's an amateur mistake to put gloss, Vaseline, or even basic creamy shadows all over the lid. That leads to creaky, cracky, creasing. Pro-tip: only put anything with a creamy or gooey consistency on parts of the eyelid that do not touch any other part of the eye.

This below would never work in real life.

Just like how that lip liner doesn't work. But I digress.

Here are some more practical examples.

I love this look. A little gloss pressed on the eyes, a little nude lippy. This probably took about 15 seconds to achieve. Splendid!

For this bold kohl look below, a little Vaseline up top does the trick to keep that upstairs real estate clean as well as catch the light.

The glossy eye is a great contrast to a bold cobalt lip. Perhaps you wouldn't choose a blue, but the point stands.

Overall, the glossy look is great for getting a clean, fresh look virtually instantly. It's a wonderful alternative to glitters, and gives you an opportunity to turn up the volume on cheeks or lips.

You may have a million gifts to wrap, and gallons of hostess wine to buy, but I hope this guide for winter makeup trends crosses one stress off your list.

Stay make-up'd not caked up!
