Eyebrows are Sisters Not Twins

Being the King:

Get the looks from BEYONCÉ

Beyonce has once again found a way to keep that number one spot in the minds of admirers and haters alike. By releasing an amazing visual album/LP amongst buzz that her sessions were unsuccessful, the king has cemented her rightful place as a beauty and fashion icon.

This is a guide to many looks found on the BEYONCÉ
visual album, complete with tips on achieving the makeup techniques and links to shop the looks. Add a few well placed accessories  and you'll be well on your way to properly stanning for the new album.

     Pretty Hurts

This video is all about the king competing at a beauty pageant, and features some easy to replicate looks.

This look features a panda eye, which we covered here. The cheeks feature a rosy brick blush similar to Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick Compact in Rose

For the lips, try a mild coral shade, such as Kat Von D's Painted Love Lipstick in A Go-Go.

I just love this shoelace repurposed as a glovelette. Learn how to tie awesome shoelace patterns here, for when you want a cool improvised accessory for your sports inspired looks this spring.

And here is where you can get that amazing workout outfit. I'm not 100% sure but this Dolce And Gabanna Metal Corset Belt looks like it will do the trick to recreate this extremely impractical workout look.

Expect to see a resurgence in bold, juicy, shocking pinks. Especially in the new vinyl-like textures of lip glosses, such as Luminizing Lip Gloss by Shiseido. Try shade Pop Life for maximum Beyonce-ness.

The swimsuits are Norma Kamali.

      Ghost

This video is beyond surreal and features blowing fabric, body condoms, and liquid latex.

I love love love love this maillot by Seafolly.

Emulating this look is a good time to whip out what you learned about glossy eyes in this article.  Use a bronzer only for the cheeks, and a natural lip gloss. Since you're keeping it pretty simple, be sure to tame/fill brows, and use a lightweight, dewy tinted moisturizer or foundation, such as OCC's  which comes in a wide range of shades.

Haunted

Of course being a celeb, Bey gets access to some of the finest designer goods that many of us can only dream to one day hang up in our boss' closet. A lot of the pieces in this video were pulled from Saint Laurent's S/S 14 runway.

Also, most likely due to star power, the King wore a couple pieces from Ulayana Sergeenko, a Russian Couture Designer. Check out her beautiful one-of-a-kind pieces at her site.

Instead of going bankrupt on lacy bits, check out these moderately priced alternatives at Agent Provacateur

To acheive this makeup look, use a cool silvery shadow like Vincent Longo Wet Diamond Eyeshadow in Concerto . For the precise edge to your eyeshadow, follow the angle from your bottom eyelid to the tail of the brow. Cheat with a q-tip if you have to. Aim for a deep berry red for lippie, such as Kevyn Aucoin The Expert Lip Color in Bloodroses.  Finish with a clear gloss.

And check out these adorable smoking loafers. Which are (grr!) backstocked of course.

Partition

This video features some of my favorite pieces, many of which are one of a kind Gaultier, archive Christian Lacroix,  and longtime Beyonce collaborator Theirry Mugler

    Blow

Hype Williams has always been known for his graphic style and this video delivers.

Here Yonce is taking it back to the old school with vintage DKNY leggings, amazing custom nameplate  and of course a resonably priced $40,000 Versace mink coat.

The only complaint I have about this video is those played-out Marant wedge sneakers. The King is forgiven, however, because her makeup looks flawless!

This look is way easier than it seems. Start with a good primer and use a little bronzer to mark your contour (it'll blend down). Use a robin's egg blue like Burberry Sheer in Slate  within your marked territory, layering wet and dry shadows with a tightly compacted brush. If you do choose to layer your shadows (commonly known as foiling) make sure to use patting strokes and then blend any spots that are too chunky.

No one looks good with chunky shadows kid. No one.

Moving right along, try a terracotta blush, like Guerlain Sun Shimmer Highlighter in Sunny Pink layered over your bronzer to fake that "just got laid glow." A lovely orange-red lip color like Ellis Faas Bright Orange or an opaque gloss should do the trick. Glossy, dewy, and glowy are the key words here.

Jealous

Here are the details on that fabulous Burberry Coat!

XO

Displaying the softer side of Beyonce, this video takes place at Coney Island in NY, which totally fits the dreamy mood of this song. I love the casual gear.

The first thing I tried to find as soon as I saw this video was this hat.

Sold out of course.

Superpower

I was sad to see the (most likely fake) Louis Vuitton logo scrubbed from this ski mask. If there's anything anonymous robbery is missing it's definitely luxury.

Get the eyes by using a liquid eyeliner such as Lancome Artliner in Iceblack .

Heaven

I couldn't find the exact hat in this shot, but I found a close red dupe at Anthropologie.

No Angel

Manfredonia has a really nice spread done in honor of Bey wearing several of their pieces.

Get the lilac lip with Make Up For Ever's Rouge Artist Intense in Pearly Violet, one of my IRL favorites.

Yonce

I love this song! And this video has some fine fur/swimsuit combos.

Add some bling from Erickson Beamon.

And grab your fantastic 3.1 Phillip Lim leopard print biker jacket and supermodel friends and hit the town.

I adore this nude look. And this semi-awkward screenshot. Keep the canvas clean- well groomed and filled brows, natural finish foundation, and teensy-weensy bit of bronzer is the easy part.
Now comes the nuance. It seems that in the "no-makeup" makeup looks that the eyes are the dead giveaway. Use a fluffy blender brush in a shade just darker than your natural skin tone on the lid.

Using a dark brown or charcoal shadow or pencil (black is too harsh in this case), dot your liner brush or the tip of your pencil between your eyelashes to create the illusion that they are lush and thick without creating a harsh line.

Finish up with a nude lipstick that does NOT make you look like a corpse and you done girl!

That was quite the breathless marathon of beauty. I hope you enjoy recreating Beyonce's swag as much as I enjoyed cataloging it.
Stay Make-up'd not Caked up!
